Akshay Wadhwa took over as Chief Executive Officer of Jio-bp in July 2025.He brings with him extensive leadership experience across the energy value chain and will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s future growth trajectory.

As CEO of Jio-bp, he is steering the joint venture’s transformation from a traditional fuel retailing business into a future-ready mobility solutions platform, aligned with India’s clean energy ambitions. At the heart lies Jio-bp’s strategy to capture a disproportionate share of demand backed with strategic network philosophy, superior customer value propositions and innovative energy transition moves. He believes that scale and footfall are powerful accelerators of behavioral change. Under Akshay’s leadership, Jio-bp is guided by a clearly defined identity: “To be the most trusted and fastest growing mobility solutions provider” for India’s evolving mobility needs. Previously, he served as Executive Director (Gas) at BPCL, where he led the company’s Natural Gas Business spanning the entire value chain, including LNG and City Gas Distribution (CGD). In this role, he not only drove the strategic expansion of CGD infrastructure but also spearheaded key initiatives such as the digital transformation, the formation of a joint venture (JV) with Oil India Limited and securing BPCL’s first-ever standalone HH-based LNG sourcing deal. 

Over a career spanning almost three decades at BPCL, he held diverse leadership roles across Operations, Engineering, Projects, Sales & Marketing, Logistics, Strategy, and Business Development, in addition to heading the P&L for businesses including Lubricants, Retail, LPG, and Gas.
