Early Beginnings and Experience
Shaju Thomas’s professional journey began in journalism at Mangalam and later MalayalaManorama, where he developed a deep understanding of people, trust, and purpose. In 2003, a modest investment in a baby shop in Manjeri marked a defining turning point, laying the foundation for what would become Popees. Initially sourcing baby garments from Tirupur, Shaju soon recognized the long-term value of in-house manufacturing to ensure consistent quality and care.
Role & Responsibilities
In 2005, Popees established its first factory in Thiruvali, setting new benchmarks for baby wear excellence. Every product carried a simple yet powerful promise—softness, safety, and reliability. Using 100% combed cotton, baby-safe natural dyes, balloon padding technology, and over 28 export-grade quality checks, Popees adheres to global standards, including ISO and GOTS certifications. Over time, the brand expanded beyond clothing into a comprehensive baby care range encompassing diapers, wipes, tissues, and personal care products. Today, Popees operates across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce, with over 100 exclusive brand outlets, flagship stores in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, and a growing footprint across the GCC, the UK, Europe, and Australia. Recognized by Forbes India and The Economic Times, Popees continues its mission—delivering trusted comfort from Kerala to families around the world.
